THE GHOST IS MY EX 😳 (Part 1)
“Where is my child? Where is my money? Where is my life? Where is my heart? I want revenge!” Those were the words the ghost repeatedly said from the report my dad gave.
It was 2 pm on a Saturday when my dad stood up abruptly, while watching his favourite football review TV show. He pointed at the wall opposite the TV direction. My brother and I couldn't see what he was pointing at.
'Please! Please!’ My dad exclaimed and started running. The ghost was chasing him everywhere he went.
I ran to the kitchen to inform my dad who was busy in the kitchen. She glared at me like I was mad for calling her husband mad.
“I didn't say, Daddy's mad.” I retorted angrily. I had just finished my NYSC and I was yet to get a job. I was mostly home and unlike my two younger siblings who were still in school, I didn't miss the Grand opening of my dad's new house.
'Could it be that Dad is a ritualist?’ I thought within me, but I quickly push the thoughts aside.
'My dad is a good man!’
After an hour of my mom casting and binding with anointing oil and water, everything became calm, but dad could only go to bed and sleep briefly.
That night, they came for my brother. He's usually a nightowl who sleeps pretty late.
At about 1 am, he heard a knock on the door twice. It was so gentle, like a toddler was knocking.
The dogs on the street barked with so much tenacity.
“Irene.” My brother, Moses, called out my name in a whisper. My room is not usually locked, so he was able to enter.
I heard the voice, but didn't respond. I thought it was the ghost. I stood still, pretending not to hear.
He turned on the light and I jarred up quickly! Then, I realized it was my brother.
‘What is it, Moses? Why are you whispering?’
He sat on my bed and said, “Th… the… ghost… He knocked on the door.”
Moses was three years younger than me and he was home for his university holiday break.
“Ain't you supposed to protect your sister. Didn't you tell me that you are no longer a baby?”
“Sis, it's a ghost we're talking about!”
Suddenly! We heard the sound of our TV on and it was playing my favourite song.
“ Did you put on the TV?” I gave my brother a questioning glance.
“No! I'm with you here.” He said in a whisper.
I stood from my bed angrily and adjusted my carton brown pyjamas. I decided to face the ghost like those American kids.
I went to the living room, my brother tiptoed behind me. Getting to the living room, I could feel goosebumps all over me!
I didn't let it distract me as I summoned boldness.
“Who are you and why are you tormenting the family of Olaosebikan? Show yourself, you coward!”
I wasn't ready for what I saw__ my ex! I just saw the guy I killed three years ago!
